Covert Ops Ships (as well as their larger cousins the "Force recon" variant of Recon Ships and the "Blockade runner" variant of Transport Ships) are unique in their ability to fit the Covert Ops Cloaking Device II, which allows them to remain cloaked while warping, while also retaining their maximum velocity while cloaked.

Covert Ops are generally employed as forward scouts in fleet movements in order to monitor enemy forces with impunity.
